It all started with a string of spelling and math tests in 3rd grade and a desire to do something else. In the Covell family, we call it "project oriented"; the need to do something with your hands, to have a grand or sometimes small idea, and to see it come to life. Growing up in a house full of builders and creative minds, I learned that you can do anything (and that any unsuspecting visitor may very well be asked to hold the nails). I started Susan Covell Designs in 2000 with the idea that I wanted to live a creative life and wanted to apply my passion for painting, color and design to help others to live and work in spaces that inspired them.
Over the years, and a move to the Chicagoland area in 2014, the decorative painting company I started grew to include color consultations, design services and commissioned art work. With an artist's eye for color and a passion for creating spaces that are a true reflection of the home owner's taste and personality, I strive to create warm and accessible design. I have a Bachelor's of Fine Arts and a Master's in Clinical Community Counseling (This means I can help you create beautiful rooms and talk you off the ledge if you're having a lamp crisis). I live a creative life with my project oriented husband, son, dog and fish in Lake Bluff. Illinois.
Call me if you want to change your life (or maybe just your walls)!
